Abstract
Clinical trials of cancer gene therapy have begun and shown safety and effectiveness for intractable, highly malignant potential solid tumors. In Japan, clinical trials have started for lung cancer, esophageal cancer, renal cancer and prostate cancer and have shown considerable safety. We have review issues regarding p53 gene therapy for head and neck cancer, lung cancer and esophageal cancer from the 2nd International Cancer Gene Therapy Symposium. We also review clinical and basic data on the oncolytic virus for head and neck cancer.
