Abstract
Solubility phenomena of some gases in typical salt and silicate melts are surveyed. Chemical absorption involves solute -solvent interactions, and the acid-base concept, among others seems tc be effective in the understanding of solubility. Solubilities of carbon dioxide, water and cyanide ion are discussed as the examples. © 1986 IUPAC
