Abstract

A medical specialism formed from the same roots as psychoanalysis, neurology currently seems to dismiss its shared heritage. Current research in several forms of neurobiology provide a glimpse of the negative consequences of such denial. Moreover, treating the neurological circuits of the consumer without listening to what he or she says corresponds to its openly-stated ambition. Is the enslavement of human beings, denounced in every form by Gori, triumphing in the guise of « neuroeconomics » ? Far from having any stable definition, the relationship between the psychic and corporeal is at the heart of continuing enquiry. It is in this respect that psychoanalysis itself can contribute, far from any conformism and situated beyond reach of the tenets of « no alternative ». © érès.
