Waterproofing in hypospadias: A refinement of the two-stage reconstruction

Abstract

A new technique for ’waterproofing’ during the second stage of a two-stage hypospadias repair is described. It is simpler and involves less tissue dissection than other waterproofing techniques. The senior author has used it over a period of 6 years as standard practice. The technique has been used in a total of 24 cases, in which the fistula rate was 8% (two cases). © 2001 The British Association of Plastic Surgeons.
