Abstract

This paper describes an experience applying a benchmarking methodology in a Virtual Organisation (VO) called Virfebras. A peculiar characteristic of Virfebras is that entelprises' members are competitors, but entrepreneurs are convinced that they have to work co-operatively in order to achieve common business-related goals. The creation of Virfebras went through several phases. One of these phases, benchmarking, is considered important to supply strategic technological information and to empower entrepreneurs' behaviour, increasing trust between them. The present work describes the benchmarking methodology developed for seven mould and die enterprises, which are part of a Virtual Organisation called Virfebras. © 2005 by International Federation for Information Processing.
