Abstract

Introduction: The dentomaxillary anomalies correspond to a group of alterations that hinder the harmonic develop- ment of the jaws, where we find the transversal anomalies. Rapid Maxillary Expansion (RME) is used as a treatment for transverse anomalies, its objective is to increase the transversal distance by separating both hemiarchies at the level of the palatal suture, using a fixed and rigid expander. The most used are the Hass, Hyrax and McNamara expanders.
