Abstract

This paper reports improvement of immersive scene on an augmented reality system that handles virtual realizations of buildings and civil engineering structures at real scale in outdoor settings. The authors employed: 1) 3D shape reconstruction from multi-viewpoint images for resolving occlusion between virtual objects and real objects and rendering shadow on virtual objects. 2) Some functions such as corrects GPS and 3 DOF inertial measurement unit outputs for accurate geometric registration. Some experimental results are shown immersive scene which render realistic virtual objects occluded by real objects.
