Abstract

A Zn electrode used for electroreduction of CO2 in K2SO4 or in KHCO3 producing CO, HCOO- and H, showed x-ray diffraction peaks for ZnO, but not when pretreated by prior electrolysis, polished with alumina, and etched with HCl, or when stood for 2 h in K2SO4 or KHCO3 solution It is suggested that the formation of ZnO on Zn may be related to the product distribution.
