Abstract

This article reviews key past trends in energy security from the perspective of both I nternational E nergy A gency members and the A sia P acific over the past 30 years, and assesses future energy risks. Developments in energy efficiency, unconventional oil and gas, and stationary renewable energy sources are highlighted. Lessons learned from past policy successes and failures provide the basis for 10 reflections to promote energy security in the region.
