Abstract

A major focus of activity in emergency medicine is the processing and management of data and information. Computers have become more accessible and more frequently used by health care professionals. The emerging field of medical informatics is more than the study of computers in medicine. Medical informatics examines the nature, collection, and recording of medical data as well as procedures to optimize the use of this information. © 1994 Aspen Publishers, Inc.
