Protective effect of pyocin against lethal Pseudomonas aeruginosa infections in mice

Abstract

Mice were protected against lethal ip challenge with Pseudomonas aeruginosa by a single injection of pyocin given 1 hr before challenge. The protective effect lasted for at least four days and was effective against all strains sensitive to the lytic activity of the pyocin in vitro.
