Abstract

A novel metabolite, named prenisatin, was isolated from submerged fermentations of Chaetomium globosum Kunze: Fr. By means of NMR, MS, IR and UV analyses, the structure of prenisatin was determined to be 5-(3-methyl-2-butenyl)-indole-2,3-dione (5-prenylifatin). Prenisatin exhibits in vitro growth inhibitory activity against Botrytis cinerea. © Acta Chemica Scandinavica 1996.
