Abstract

The tweek field structure is investigated. It is experimentally confirmed that near the critical frequencies of the Earth-ionosphere waveguide tweek is constructed by left-handed (L) polarized waves with the incidence angles θ ∼ 20° - 30°. Tweeks are shown to be sensitive to magnetic disturbances, and probably to a strong atmospheric phenomena. The virtual height HD of the nighttime D-region and an appropriate electron-neutral collision frequency ν(HD) are estimated from the analysis of tweek data. © 1991.
