Abstract
Lithium chromium oxide (LixCr2O5) with cubic structure (Fm-3m) was synthesized via chemical lithiation process. Electrochemical test reveals that cubic LixCr2O5 delivers an average voltage of 3.0 V (vs. Li+/Li) and a specific discharge capacity of similar to 190 mAh g(-1) at 0.2 C. Such new chromium-based cathode also displays good cycling performance with capacity retention of 86% after 50 cycles. When coupled with Li4Ti5O12 anode, LixCr2O5 can deliver a specific capacity of about 160 mAh g(-1) and good cycle performance, with 91% capacity retention for about 50 cycles.
