Abstract

Mimetics of second mitochondria-derived activator of caspases (SMAC) enhance tumor cell death in a variety of cancers. Several molecular mechanisms of action have been identified. However, it was only recently that the modus of action was linked to stimulation of anti-tumor immunity. Here we comment on these findings, highlighting several remaining questions. © 2012 Landes Bioscience.
