Abstract

Chlorination, bromination, and condensation reactions of 3-(1-ethy1-4-hydroxy-2-oxo-1,2-dihydroquinolin-3-yl)-3-oxopropanoic acid (3) were studied. Some novel 4-hydroxyquinolin-2(1H) -ones and pyrano[3,2-c] quinolin-2(1H) -ones were also prepared. The structures of the novel compounds were established by elemental analyses and spectral data. All the products were also screened in vitro for their antimicrobial activity. © TÜBİTAK, 2012.
