Abstract
Fluorinated polyimides are synthesized for optical application. They have good thermal stability, low water absorption, high optical transparency in visible and near-infrared regions, and refravtive index controllability. Film optical waveguide is fabricated using the fluorinated co-polyimides. This optical waveguide has single-mode and low optical loss of less than 0.3 dB/cm at the telecommunication wavelength of 1.3 μm. This waveguide has high thermal and environmental stability. © 1997 TAPJ.
