Abstract

Historically, energy surveys have been carried out to identify efficiency improvements and understand annual or monthly energy use. However, meter readings are increasingly collected half-hourly, generating large volumes of data. This paper describes the management and analysis of around 2.5 million meter data points collected from buildings. A review of methods of gathering energy metering data is presented, including options for non-invasive monitoring. This is followed by a summary of mathematical methods which can be used for analysis of metering data. Finally, examples showing analysis of half-hourly metering data are presented.
