Abstract

X-ray lasers (XRLs) belong to the brightest existing short-wavelength sources. The development trends are discussed from the point of view their suitability for applications. A detailed analysis of the output parameters of the XRL with transient inversion proves that this type of laser has become sufficiently mature to be applied in practice.
