Abstract
16 physical and chemical factors, commonly found in running waters, are discussed from the results of about 12 000 analyses made between 1960 and 1970 in French streams, and from a study of the well documented European works. After the examination of the location and meaning of specific values, classes are proposed for each parameter to serve as guide-marks and bases for the interpretation of chemical analyses. © 1970 Masson.
