Abstract

The matrix formulation for the limit-load problem in soil mechanics can be solved by the KEM effectively. The solution of the slope stability problem is more complicated in principle, but together with an effective iteration technique the solution of the implicit equation system can be simplified to the recursive solution of just a quadratic equation.
