Abstract
A solution for the diffraction of electromagnetic waves by a perfect conducting semi-infinite cone of arbitrary cross-section is derived. In the process some discrepancies in existing formulae for the cone of circular cross-section are resolved. A uniqueness theorem is established for electromagnetic fields outside a perfectly conducting obstacle which is conical at infinity.
