MOLD POWDERS FOR HIGH SPEED CONTINUOUS CASTING.

Abstract

The continuous casting ratio has exceeded 90% and the direct rolling process has been recently established in Japan. The high speed continuous casting and the defects free slabs are strict requirements in the direct rolling process. Shinagawa Refractories Co. , Ltd. has developed the mold powders for high speed casting to meet these demands. The powders are mainly used for the high speed casting of slabs and successfully applied to casting in 25,000 strands at 2. 0-2. 5 m/min without sticking type breakout.
