Abstract

We describe a new anthuroid isopod species Sauranthura liangaensis sp. nov. from Lianga, Surigao del Sur, Mindanao, Philippines, amend the diagnosis for Sauranthura, and synonymize Sauranthura rapanui with Stygocyathura rapanuia. The new species is distinguishable from the sole congener Sauranthura goldmanorum in having short rounded maxillipedal endite, trapezoidal and ventrodistally protruded carpus of pereopod 1, and ventrodistal spiniform seta on carpus of pereopods 4–7. We also determined the partial sequences of 18S rRNA and 28S rRNA from the new species.http://zoobank.org/urn:lsid:zoobank.org:pub:2FD7BC42-CBDB-4A25-AFCB-F94F2DDEDB1A.
