Abstract

This chapter discusses how lack of collocation proficiency can have a deleterious effect on writing and reading and describes ColloCaid, an interactive, data-driven learning (DDL) text-editing tool designed for writers seeking to improve their use of academic English collocations. Although the tool was primarily conceived to be used independently when writing and revising academic English texts, the present chapter emphasizes how ColloCaid can be also used in teaching and provides a summary of recent user studies.
