Plutonium and other actinides

Abstract

Sixteen years have elapsed since studies of the properties and behavior of plutonium metal were first published in the open literature by C. S. Smith. During the intervening years there has been a wealth of research published, largely as contributions to the three international conferences held at Chicago, 1957, Grenoble 1960 and London 1965. The more recent conferences have embraced both alloys and compounds of plutonium as well related studies on those other actinides that have been produced in sufficient experimental quantities.
