Abstract

This paper discussed a research conducted on an automotive manufacturing company in Indonesia. Breakdown occurs when a machine or equipment is damaged; while downtime shows the time it takes the machine to restore the machine's ability to be able to perform its functions as before. One of the most important benefits in downtime data layout is the ability to measure the potential costs due to downtime. Therefore, in other words to get accurate cost calculation results, it requires a machine that automatically records the time of breakdown (downtime). Based on this condition, we design the automated downtime recording equipment made using Omron CJ1M-CPU11 PLC and HMI (Human Machine Interface) as interface or human link interface with PLC that will display the data of downtime calculation. The process of making automatic downtime recorders is done in several stages: designing, manufacturing, and testing. With this automatic downtime keeper, the previous downtime logging is still done automatically. Thus, the downtime data obtained becomes more accurate.
