In Theaetetus, in an attempt to de ne knowledge, Plato deals with unity and complexity according an analysis model of complexes into unanalysable simple elements. Wittgenstein in paragraph 46 of Philosophical Investigations cites the argument of Theaetetus, introducing a critique of his own notion of object in Tractatus. Our theme will be an examination of the notions of element and complex presented in Theaetetus and resumed in Sophist, at the horizon of Wittgenstein's approach between the object of Tractatus and the element of Theaetetus.
