RESPONS TERHADAP TUTURAN SARKASME DITINJAU DARI ASPEK GENDER DENGAN DISCOURSE COMPLETION TASK (DCT)

Abstract

This type of quantitative descriptive research is used to determine the response to sarcasm speech when viewed from the gender aspect. The sample in this study was selected from a relatively large population, namely residents of the Muhammadiyah University of Makassar. The sample was selected by non-probability sampling with purposive sampling technique. This technique is used based on the characteristics of the population and the research method used. The sample size chosen incidentally is 30 people. The data collection technique in this study used a survey technique with the instrument used in this survey technique was the Discourse Completion Task (DCT). The results of the study show that the response to sarcasm in terms of gender is very high. This is evidenced by the statistical calculation of the independent sample t-test using SPSS, it is found that data from the gender variable, men who say rude words to women, seen from the mean difference, is 2.8667. Based on these data, it can be concluded that women will always dominate the situation and women's response to sarcasm, regardless of gender, will always be greater.
