Abstract

More and more, bioregional assessments are being viewed as essential components of ecosystem management. But forestry professionals and others have identified several challenges posed by this new brand of regional-scale analysis. This article summarizes key challenges facing assessments in general, describes use of a logic-based modeling framework with an example of evaluating forest ecosystem sustainability in particular, and discusses ways in which logic-based modeling can help address the challenges of bioregional assessment.
