Abstract

Why, in some cases, does intrafamilial child abuse repeat itself ? How, in other family systems, does it cease and leave a place for self respect and respect of the other, and so doing, for appropriate bonding ? So as to better comprehend abusive systems, it is advisable to deepen our knowledge of the concepts of transmission and loyalty. Although transmission necessarily takes place, loyalty between the generations is not always discernable during early analysis of systemic issues. This article, basing itself on clinical work with a team specialized in situations of child abuse, deals with the many interrogations which arise from the phenomenon of repetition and does so by pinpointing elements of personal, familial and social fragility. Our reflection is based on a psychodynamic approach to human behavior and is based essentially on analytical and systemic references.
