Suelos ideales para agricultura sostenible

Abstract

RESUMEN Para acceder a sistemas de Agricultura Sostenible, conviene que cada suelo pueda satisfacer las necesidades de las plantas que en él se cultivan, según el clima del lugar. Ese Suelo Ideal debe ser tal que, "además de sostener físicamente a los cultivos, les permita crecer, desarrollarse y cumplir normalmente todas las funciones vitales indispensables para llevar al máximo los niveles de producción a través del tiempo". En este trabajo se describen las funciones que debe cumplir un suelo ideal en la Región Pampeana Norte y qué atributos se asocian a esas funciones; se proponen técnicas para medirlos, con sus límites críticos, evaluando la sensibilidad de algunos de ellos para detectar diferencias y vislumbrar la tendencia de algunos manejos usuales en dicha región respecto de la sostenibilidad. To achieve Sustainable Agriculture systems, each soil should satisfy the requirements of the plants according to the climate of the place. That Ideal Soil should be able to sustain physically the crops and, it should also allow them to grovv and to accomplish the indispensable vital functions to attain the máximum production levéis through the time. This paper describes the functions and associated attributes that must fulfill an ideal soil in the North of the Pampean Región (Argentine). Techniques to measure soil attributes with the critical limits are proposed, and the sensibility of some of them to detect differences between systems and the tendency regarding to the sustainability of several management practices are also analyzed.
