Four new 2-arylbenzofuran derivatives from leaves of Morus alba L.

Abstract

Four new 2-arylbenzofuran derivatives, moracins V-Y (1-4), together with two known compounds, moracin N (5) and moracin P (6), were isolated from the leaves of Morus alba L. Their structures were elucidated by spectroscopic analysis. Moracins X (3) and Y (4) represent unusual substituted group compared with 2-arylbenzofuran derivatives, which were isolated from the genus Morus. Compounds 2-5 were evaluated for cytotoxicity against several human cancer cell lines. © 2010 Pharmaceutical Society of Japan.
