Abstract
This study aims to show the potential for oppression in the education system in Indonesia, especially in SMP Negeri 1 Baleendah Bandung, as well as to provide an overview of how the educational mechanism is liberating according to the Paulo Freire category. The method used in this research is a qualitative method with descriptive characters in which the researcher directly observes and collects data using interview techniques in the field. Interviews were conducted with teachers, students and school committees as representatives of parents of students. The results of this study include the potential for oppressive education such as the bank style education model, the potential for the creation of oppressive situations, and the existence of educational massification by the authorities. Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menunjukkan potensi penindasan dalam sistem pendidikan di Indonesia khususnya di SMP Negeri 1 Baleendah Bandung, serta memberikan gambaran bagaimana mekanisme pendidikan yang membebaskan menurut kategori Paulo Freire.
