El sentido del lugar de uno en mujeres trans adultas de la Ciudad de México: riesgos corporales e identitarios

Abstract

Resumen El objetivo de este artículo es reflexionar sobre las modificaciones corporales que realizan las mujeres trans en la presentación de su persona en la Ciudad de México. El análisis se focaliza en mujeres trans adultas y hace un acercamiento a lo que modifican en el cuerpo para su reconocimiento social. Se entrevistaron a diez mujeres trans de 2014 a 2018 y se realizó observación etnográfica en distintos eventos sobre personas trans en la ciudad. La hipótesis es que las mujeres trans en su búsqueda del sentido del lugar de uno toman decisiones, algunas simples o radicales, en sus cuerpos que tienen impacto tanto en la interacción cotidiana como en su vida social en general. Por lo que se describen las situaciones en las que se dan estos cambios y su configuración del riesgo tanto para el cuerpo como para su identidad.Abstract The objective of this article is to reflect on the body modifications that trans women perform in the presentation of self in Mexico City. The analysis focuses on adult trans women and approaches what they modify in the body for social recognition. Ten trans women were interviewed from 2014 to 2018 and ethnographic observation was done in different events about trans people in the city. The hypothesis is that trans women in their search for the sense of one’s place make decisions, some simple or radical, in their bodies that have an impact both on daily interaction and on their social life in general. Therefore, it describes the situations in which these changes occur and the risk configuration for both body and identity.
