Abstract

Leather is one of the most traded commodities in the world. The leather industry occupies a prominent place in Indian economy due to substantial export earnings. The Indian Leather industry accounts for around 12.93% of worlds leather production of hides and skins. The country ranks second in terms of footwear and leather garments production in the world and accounts for 9.57% in worlds footwear production.
