Virtual Autopsy – Way forward in Forensic Medicine

Abstract

Technological advancements in medical sciences have also touched forensic sciences. The procedure of Autopsy still employs traditional approach. An autopsy is a highly specialized surgical procedure consisting of a thorough evaluation of a corpse to determine the cause and manner of death and to pinpoint any disease or injury that may be present. Conventional autopsies are time consuming and quite relentless. So, in 20th century Dr Richard Dirnhofer introduced the term virtual autopsy.
