Abstract

This study defines the mechanisms related to the creation of words in Ayacucho Quechua, specifically in the context of the elaboration of pedagogical materials for Communication and Mathematics. Neologisms are a pressing issue for conceptual development in the learning process, where native languages are required, in addition to the creation of categories relevant to their socio-cultural tradition, to create categories conceptually related to culturally different subjects, such as Mathematics. The data analysis is based on the compilation of new vocabulary detected in the Rimana ('Communication') and Yupana ('Mathematics') workbooks for the primary level, produced by the Ministry of Education in Ayacucho Quechua (2019). For this purpose, each of the neologisms was recorded according to the protocol of the systematic spontaneous emptying proposed by the Observatory of Neology of the Pompeu Fabra University. It can be seen that the creation of neologisms is based on morphosemantic processes, with a predominance of nominal and verbal words.
