Abstract
This study presents the evaluation of the structural seismic vulnerability and the estimation of damage in two buildings destined for religious uses in the city of Santiago de Cuba and which are also part of the heritage to be preserved, considering their use value, construction period and characteristics. We applied approximate methodology based on obtaining the Ki coefficient, called the seismic coefficient reduced by ductility corresponding to the failure of the mezzanine. Then, a calculation methodology was applied (theoretical vulnerability functions that allows estimating the percentage of damage in each building according to the established levels: light, moderate, severe and complete damage) due to the non-existence of technical documentation in the selected buildings. With this, we aim to enable decision-making for the restoration of the built heritage with the purpose of reducing seismic risk in the future. Instrumental measurements are also carried out to obtain the value of the fundamental period of the structure, which are compared with the value of the NC 46:2017 code.
