Abstract

Multi-criteria decision-making presents a challenge in the education sector, requiring objective and structured approaches. The Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) are widely applied due to their ability to simplify complex problems and computational efficiency. This study aims to conduct a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) on the application of AHP-TOPSIS in education during 2021-2025. The review focuses on fundamental concepts, integration patterns, effectiveness, accuracy factors, and publication trends over the past five years. Data were collected from Google Scholar using the keywords "AHP TOPSIS education" and "decision support system AHP-TOPSIS." Out of 200 initial articles, screening with inclusion and exclusion criteria resulted in 36 eligible studies. The findings reveal that AHP is primarily used to determine criteria weights hierarchically, while TOPSIS ranks alternatives based on their closeness to the ideal solution. The integration of AHP-TOPSIS is frequently applied in educational decision support systems, particularly in student selection, performance evaluation, and study program choice. The method is generally considered effective in improving objectivity and accuracy, although not all studies explicitly evaluate its effectiveness.
