Abstract
This research presents a far-reaching marine geophysical overview of the seabed and sub-bottom features of the marine area of Alexandria City which is known for its historical and ecological significance in the Mediterranean Sea providing deep understanding of the underwater geomorphological and stratigraphic features of this marine zone through using sonar technologies include Multibeam Echosounder, Side-Scan Sonar, and Sub-Bottom Profiler along with remote operated vehicle. The survey design is considered a detailed exploration of the seabed topography, texture, and sub-seafloor features. Initial outcomes from this oceanographic survey show a complex structure including different sediment deposits, rocky outcrops, and potential marine habitats which offering new experiences into the ecological complexity of the area. Also, the sub-bottom profiling has been particularly effective in mapping different sedimentary packages and the stratigraphic deposition and providing valuable data of the geological history above the bedrock. The results of sonar data and remote operated vehicles images integration, in mapping underwater seabed morphology, are expected to contribute to the fields of marine geology, environmental management, and historical research. The outcomes of this study can potentially inform future conservation efforts and support the sustainable management of this significant marine area.
