Abstract
Advancements in digital technology have revolutionized economics, society, and human interaction. Metaverse, powered by VR, AR, blockchain, AI, and 5G, offers immersive experiences with digital payment systems, enabling secure, efficient, and transparent transactions. Despite progress in blockchain, cryptocurrency, and DeFi, challenges remain in optimizing digital payments for sustainability and inclusivity in the Metaverse economy. This study uses the SPAR-4-SLR methodology and tools, such as VOSviewer and Biblioshiny, to identify key research themes, such as blockchain, AI integration, and economic inclusiveness in digital payments. The analysis of 37 documents revealed trends, publication dynamics, and collaborative networks. The findings demonstrate the importance of blockchain and decentralized systems for cross-border transactions and data security as well as artificial intelligence for fraud detection and personalized recommendations. However, regulatory ambiguities and technological constraints persist. Future research should explore energy-efficient technologies, optimal auction mechanisms, and the role of service providers in resilient metaverse infrastructure. This study examined the progression of digital payment systems within the Metaverse, providing valuable insights for scholars, policymakers, and technology developers to promote a secure and sustainable digital payment ecosystem.
