Abstract

The type specimens of Orthoptera (Insecta) in the Natural Sciences Museum of Barcelona, Spain The Orthoptera type specimens held at the Museu de Ciències Naturals de Barcelona (Natural Sciences Museum of Barcelona, MCNB) have undergone a comprehensive review and detailed documentation. The collection comprises 115 type specimens, representing 31 specific taxa. This study provides comprehensive information concerning each specimen revised, including the precise transcription of the original labels, the current taxonomic status, the original reference for the type material, the original description of the referenced species, and a detailed discussion of any discrepancies between the original description and the labels. Additionally, it addresses the evolution of taxonomy through the analysis of changes that have occurred. For each catalogued taxon, a lateral view of the type specimen is presented.
