An Overview of Warehouse Optimization

Abstract

This paper presents an overview related to ware- house optimization problems. The problems are divided in to several groups. First, the basic technical structure of warehouse is described. Second, the standard operational and organizational framework of warehousing company is characterized, which is in special attention in this work. Third, the coordinating and controlling systems for warehouse operations is briefly mentioned, and typical warehousing operations dependent on technical and operational structure are described. The main contribution of this paper is to show the current state of the art in optimization in mentioned three groups of interest in logistic warehouses and distribution centers.
