Menjaga Agama Dan Akal Melalui Prosesi Perkawinan Hafalan Ayat Al-Qur'an Sebagai Mahar Perkawinan

Abstract

Marriage is a sacred ceremony that not only unites two people, but also brings together two different families with the aim of worshiping and obeying God. Valid marriage contract should fulfill all terms and requirements. One of them is dowry, a gift which must be given by the prospective husband to the prospective wife. This article explains memorizing qur'anic verses as a a dowry, which curently become popular among Muslims in Indonesia. Utilizing maqâṣid asy-syarȋ'ah which pays significant attention to the protection of five fundamental elements: religion, soul, mind, family, and wealth, this article argued that memorising Qur'anic verses as a dowry can be considered as a part of the protection of religion and mind.
