Abstract

Modern techniques of analytical and structural investigation have been providing an increasing amount of detailed information about concentration, distribution, and state of the microalloying elements in steels and contributing to the understnding of their various roles and effects. This paper reviews the contributions of chemical and instrumental analysis to the metallurgy of microalloying. The methods include advanced techniques of quantitative microanalysis, local probe analysis, structural analysis, and direct or in situ observation.
