Abstract
Sustainable development has become the world wide consensus. Product life cycle design is an advanced design methodology, by which the environmental factors in the entire life cycle of the product are comprehensively considered and incorporated into the design to minimize the environmental impacts, and ultimately lead to a sustainable production and consumption system. It is an important means to implement the green manufacturing strategy. Life cycle design is a complex and systematic work, in terms of stakeholders, process, resources, and the interaction of these elements. In this study, the necessity of cross organizational collaboration for life cycle design is first clarified, and the driving effect of sustainable value propositions of stakeholders on collaborative design is analyzed; A product life cycle design methodology framework based on the design domain mapping of "sustainable value demands" - "technical requirements" - "technical solutions" is proposed, which solves the fundamental problems such as the formulation of cross organizational collaborative objectives for sustainability, the identification of design conflicts, and the green design of products and their whole life cycle processes. The feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed design method are demonstrated and verified by the case study of construction machinery equipment.
