Abstract
Benzanthrone derivates are now widely used in many industrial and scientific applications as dyes for polymersand textiles. In biochemical, biomedical and diagnosticsinvestigations benzanthrone dyes are used as alipophilic fluorescent probe since many benzanthronederivates demonstrate bright fluorescence and theyhave ability to intercalate between membrane lipids.The aim of research presented here was to assess theluminescence ability of benzanthrone derivatives usingmicroscopic visualization of biological objects. Accordingly,specimens of freshwater trematodes: Diplostomumspathaceum, Diplodiscus subclavatus and Prosotocus confusus,were stained by novel benzanthrone dyes usingdifferent fixatives. The samples were examined under aconfocal laser scanning microscope. All of the dyes testeddemonstrated good results for digestive and reproductivesystem visualization. Based on obtained resultswe conclude that benzanthrone dyes could be used forinternal and external structure confocal laser scanningmicroscopic imaging of trematode specimens
