Introduction to Colonial Christian missions: Social and cultural impacts and ongoing legacies

Abstract

This article provides an introduction to the Special Section on Colonial Christian missions and their social and cultural impacts. It surveys the scholarship on colonial Christian missions and argues that there is a need for more work that holds both colonies and metropoles in the same analytical frame, whilst also considering the continuities and discontinuities of mission legacies over time.
