Abstract

We present a nonequilibrium absorption-desorption phase transition, induced by a time-periodic parametric modulation, and compare it with the phase transitions induced by white and dichotomous Markov noise. In the case of time-periodic modulation and dichotomous Markov noise, the phase transition is found to be reentrant with respect to the strength of the spatial coupling. © 1998 The American Physical Society.
